There's some paperwork that has to be completed a week before departure. Make sure you have your dossier of French Polynesia paperwork in order well before your trip. Next time I might prepay some/all of the dinners, I have the idea it's cheaper with a meal plan. I found the restaurants at St Regis to be way overpriced especially the drinks, but I guess it goes with their amazing venue. I brought my snorkel/fins set ($30 from Costco) and got plenty of chances to use it. The St Regis has bungalows on land and overwater unless you're bringing a huge family you'll want the overwater experience. The Costco travel rep for Tahiti was helpful and knowledgeable - I feel like they can arrange your flights however you want. The St Regis Bora Bora is one of the nicest hotels in the world and the pricing reflects that however with Costco Travel pricing it's within reach of normal peoples' budget. I used Costco travel for Bora Bora trip this past June. The prices you see on the Costco travel website are PER PERSON. We paid half at booking, and half 30 days prior to departure. The prices we paid were $6,700 booked in December 2020 for a March 2021 trip, which was canceled due to COVID shutdowns, and $8,700 booked in April 2021 for a June 2021 trip. The over water bungalow is an amazing experience! Everyone we met was super friendly, and the staff was always willing to help. I was incredibly amazed at the service we got from booking(twice) to the actual stay. Food is expensive there, get the meal plan and bring plenty of snacks! Our package included a meal plan for daily breakfast and dinner and hotel branded beach towels(executive member perk). The travel agents are SO helpful! They literally crunched numbers for us so we could stay on budget. We opted to only stay in Bora Bora, but there are packages that enable you to see other islands too. If you’ve never been, these airports are TINY, so don’t stress about finding your way. Once at BOB, you find your resort’s boat stand where they’ll welcome you and show you to the boat you’ll take to your hotel for check-in. From there, you catch another air-bus like flight (makes one additional stop betweeen PPT & BOB) that takes 45 minutes. Leaves LA at midnight, you land in PPT at like 5-6 AM. This flight is a red eye on a Dreamliner. We flew from LAX, and had to purchase our tickets to LAX separately(not through Costco). You have 2 flight options: SFO to PPT via United, or LAX to PPT via Air Tahiti Nui. We stayed at the Intercontinental Thalasso for 5 nights. Our initial trip was planned for March, but COVID shut that down, we received a full refund, and rebooked as soon as Costco was allowed to for June. My husband and I used Costco Travel to go to Bora Bora this past June! There is no catch, just the joys of Costco membership.
